Cleaning and Maintenance
Just like any other storage vessel, water tanks can get dirty over time. The location of your property, and the tank, along with the condition of your roof and gutters and whether you have lots of trees around can all have an impact on what gets into your tank and how clean it stays.
As well as supplying quality concrete water tanks, Duracrete can also clean your water storage tanks. We offer various options, including cleaning the interior and exterior of your Duracrete water tanks.
The Ministry of Health recommends inspecting your water tanks annually and cleaning them when necessary. This is because what goes into your tank can have an affect on the water quality within it. View the Ministry of Health Recommendation here.
All our water tank cleaning services are performed by experienced and knowledgeable staff who have worked with our company and products for many years. Our team members are trained and qualified in confined spaces, working at heights, and first aid.
Interior Cleaning
For this service, all the water from the tank being cleaned must be drained or removed.
If you have a multi-tank setup at your property, we can move the water from one tank to another, allowing us to clean both tanks and we can still leave you with half of your water supply.
If you have only one tank, we can provide a temporary 5,000L supply to store some of your water during the cleaning process (additional cost applies). This 5,000 litres of water can then be pumped back in at the completion of the job, leaving your household with some water.
Water is precious so the ideal time to clean your tanks is when there is plenty of rainfall around and they can be easily topped up or refilled meaning there is no need to purchase water.

Standard Interior Clean –

- $325 plus GST for one tank only
- $275 plus GST per tank for two or more tanks
OUTSIDE OF 50km OF DURACRETE – 37 Saleyards Road, Kauri, Whangarei
- Same pricing structure for cleaning as within 50km of Duracrete, with an extra fee of $1 per km from Duracrete, return
This service includes:
- Moving water out of and between tanks (Duracrete does not replace water that is discharged)
- Full vacuuming of the tank floor, removing all sediment, leaves, bark, dirt, etc
- A full report of services provided, including before-and-after photos
This service does not include:
- Replacement of water
- Any gardening or earthworks required to access tanks
Premium Clean –
WITHIN 50km OF DURACRETE – 37 Saleyards Road, Kauri, Whangarei
- $400 plus GST for one tank only
- $350 plus GST per tank for two or more tanks
OUTSIDE OF 50km OF DURACRETE – 37 Saleyards Road, Kauri, Whangarei
- Same pricing structure for cleaning as within 50km of Duracrete, with an extra fee of $1 per km from Duracrete, return
This service includes:
- Moving water out of and between tanks (Duracrete does not replace water that is discharged)
- Full soft brush scrubbing with water (no chemicals) of the interior walls and floor
- Full vacuuming of the tank floor, removing all sediment, leaves, bark, dirt, etc
- A full report of services provided, including before-and-after photos
This service does not include:
- Replacement of water
- Any gardening or earthworks required to access tanks
Considerations:
- If your tanks are partially buried, consideration will be given to the groundwater level around the tanks to prevent hydraulic uplift while the tank is empty. If there is the slightest possibility of hydraulic uplift occurring after tanks are emptied of water, Duracrete will not undertake any cleans until such time as the risk is reduced to a safe level
- Duracrete does not guarantee or take any responsibility for the quality of water within the tank before or after the clean
- The guarantee or provision of water filtration
- Duracrete is not responsible for the plumbing set up between your tanks and/or house

Exterior Cleaning
Standard Exterior Clean –
WITHIN 50km OF DURACRETE – 37 Saleyards Road, Kauri, Whangarei
- $200 plus GST for one tank
- $175 plus GST for two or more tanks
OUTSIDE OF 50km OF DURACRETE – 37 Saleyards Road, Kauri, Whangarei:
- Same pricing structure for cleaning as within 50km of Duracrete, with an extra fee of $1 per km from Duracrete, return
The exterior surfaces of the tank are cleaned using a combination of a soft water blast and a disc, which removes the buildup of dirt, restoring your concrete water tanks to their original colour. No chemicals are used in this process.
All accessible exterior walls, roofs, and manholes are cleaned.
Please note that our cleaning services do not provide:

Approximate time to complete: 45 minutes to an hour per tank.
