Tank Repairs
Cracks in concrete water storage tanks are not uncommon. Fortunately, with a concrete tank, repairs are available for all issues, so replacing the tank is usually not necessary.
We repair all Duracrete water tanks using a variety of repair products and procedures, depending on the specific issue. Our repairs are conducted by experienced and knowledgeable staff and all team members are trained and qualified in confined spaces, working at heights, and first aid.

Identifying the Issue:
If you’ve noticed an issue with your water tank developing a crack, rest assured that it will remain structurally safe and sound thanks to our Steel Fibre Technology, and that we will assist with rectifying or monitoring the problem.
Common causes of cracks and water loss: (these are not covered under our Warranty Terms and conditions)
- Natural curing of concrete
- Fibre weeps/bug holes
- Incorrect site preparation
- Unequally buried applications with a greater height differential of 1m from highest side to the lowest side
- Tanks being used as retaining walls
- Ground movement
- Temperature changes
- Damage during backfilling
- Leaking fittings/taps/toilet cisterns
- Accidental syphoning

Please note that completing this form does not guarantee that repair will be done under Warranty.
You will need to prepare the following information:
- Tank age
- Location
- Amount of water loss (this will be taken into account when deciding if a repair is needed or when it should take place)
- Can the tanks be isolated from the others onsite?
- Other details to help us assess the issue
If you prefer a paper copy of the Warranty Claim Form, let us know your address, and we will post one to you. Alternatively, you can pick one up from our office at 37 Saleyards Rd, Kauri, between 8:15 a.m. and 4:15 p.m.
Once the form is completed and photos are received, our office will pass the information to our experienced tank repair specialist. We ask that you please be patient as as he reviews the information you have provided. He will contact you to discuss the most appropriate solution.
Please note;
- Water is precious so the ideal time to clean your tanks is when there is plenty of rainfall around and they can be easily topped up or refilled meaning there is no need to purchase water
- If your tanks are partially buried, consideration will be given to the groundwater level around the tanks to prevent hydraulic uplift while the tank is empty. If there is the slightest possibility of hydraulic uplift occurring after tanks are emptied of water, Duracrete will not undertake any repairs until such time as the risk is reduced to a safe level
- Not all issues are covered under our Warranty Terms and Conditions. If not, a charge will apply and we will provide a quote before undertaking any repair work for you
- Duracrete does not replace any water discharged to undertake any repairs
- Duracrete does not do and will not undertake or replace any gardening or earthworks required to access tanks
- Duracrete does not guarantee or take any responsibility for the quality of water within the tank before or after the repair is complete
- The guarantee or provision of water filtration
- Duracrete is not responsible for the plumbing set up between your tanks and/or house
